Blum Award

This award is to recognize a member who has given outstanding service to the Society over time and is named for Edna Blum, a founding member of the Canadian Association of Immunohematologists, the forerunner of CSTM. Edna has been treasurer of the Society from 1980 to 2002, as well as serving on the Board of Directors.

The award consists of a cheque from the Society for $500.00 and the ‘BLUM Award’ engraved with the Society’s logo, recipient's name, and year presented.

The winner is reimbursed for the expenses to the Annual conference to accept the Award.

Criteria:

  • The recipient must be or have been a member of the Canadian Society for Transfusion Medicine  

  • The award is given for outstanding service over a substantial period

  • The award recognizes service to the Society, not scientific contribution to Transfusion Medicines.  This may include extraordinary contributions as a Board member, continuous distinguished or advocacy for transfusion medicine.

CSTM - Ortho Award

This award will be given to an individual who has provided a major service or innovation in transfusion medicine.  This award is not restricted to physicians, nurses,  and technologists.

Criteria:  

  • The recipient must be or have been a member of the Canadian Society for Transfusion Medicine  

  • The award recognizes outstanding contribution to transfusion medicine.  This may be in research, practice, education or other related activities
