The Canadian Blood Services BloodTechNet Competition facilitates the development of innovative educational projects that network the Transfusion, Cellular Therapy and Transplantation communities in Canada. These projects deliver educational tools and resources that support the development of skills, knowledge and expertise of the health professionals in this network.
 
The BloodTechNet Learning Fund was launched in 2011 to initially support professional development in transfusion medicine among Canadian Medical Laboratory Technologists.

For an introduction to immunohematology and the foundations of blood bank compatibility testing, visit LearnSerology.ca, an online educational resource developed by transfusion medicine specialists in Canada. The curriculum consists of six modules, including an interactive module for completing an antibody investigation panel. Although the website was developed to assist hematology trainees, it may also be useful for medical laboratory technologists.

The BC Serology Interest Group has completed producing a series of videos, Passing the Serology Torch.  There are 11 videos, ranging in length from 20 - 60 minutes.  The videos can be viewed in any order and feature speakers such as Dr. Brian Berry, Eric Ching, Sabine Hutchinson, Cathy Lee, Darlene Mueller and Kathy O'Shea. Funding support for the project was generously provided by the Canadian Blood Services BloodTechNet 2012 Learning Competition.

The BC Provincial Blood Coordinating Office (PBCO), in collaboration with the BC Technical Resource Group is pleased to offer a series of transfusion related education videos called Transfusion Bits and Bytes. Transfusion Bits and Bytes videos are intended for general Medical Laboratory Technologists working in Transfusion Medicine Services. Funding support was generously provided by the Canadian Blood Services BloodTechNet 2011 Learning Competition.

Offered by Melbourne School of Heath Sciences at the University of Melbourne and Australian Red Cross Blood Service through the Blood Matters Program

The Graduate Certificate in Transfusion Practice is a part-time, three subject online program of one year's duration administered by The University of Melbourne School of Nursing. It provides health care professionals, typically registered nurses and scientists with the professional and clinical knowledge and skills to act as a specialist resource in the area of Transfusion Practice.

The course aims to provide a framework for participants to effectively contribute to achieving best transfusion practice and patient blood management across health services.
