CSTM Policies

The Canadian Society for Transfusion Medicine (CSTM) offers its website for the information and education of its members, other healthcare professionals, and the general public.

The privacy policy is developed in compliance with the applicable privacy laws and are established and approved by the CSTM Board of Directors. Users of the CSTM website can access the current privacy policy from the website pages and updates will be highlighted on the website’s home pages as they occur.

We take reasonable security measures to protect personal information that is under our control from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction, including access controls and regular security assessments.

CSTM respects the privacy and personal information of members and other visitors to the website. Any identifiable information collected via this stie will be kept strictly confidential and will not be sold, reused, loaned or otherwise disclosed unless required by law.

Aggregate data is used to support improvement of the website and understand your needs. Aggregated, unidentifiable data may be presented to members, partners or others to create a better understanding of the CSTM community, membership or key insights.

Membership with the Canadian Society for Transfusion Medicine includes access to member only resources and materials. As a member accessing member-only content on transfusion.ca, you

• must use a unique login and strong password as described on the login page.
• are entirely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their password and are not to use the account, username, or password of another individual at any time.
• will notify CSTM immediately if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account or access to your password.
• are solely responsible for any and all use of your online account
• may request deactivation of your online account at any time.

As the website owner, CSTM has the right to

• monitor account activity
• deactivate your account for unauthorized use.
• and may deactivate accounts that have not been used in over 365 days.(see note below)

An account is created for you as part of the membership process. To request deactivation or deletion of your account, please contact us at [email protected] This deactivation or deletion of your transfusion.ca login does not end your membership nor impact the other benefits of membership.

Please note that you will have used our membership portal (Wild Apricot) to pay for your membership, and may use a different conference portal if you join us at our annual conferences. These third-party websites each have their own terms of use and privacy policies.
